Annual Butterfly Monitoring Workshop

WildResearch’s Fourth Annual Butterfly Monitoring Workshop – Sunday May 3 2015

WildResearch is pleased to announce its Fourth Annual Butterfly Monitoring Workshop, co-hosted by the UBC Botanical Garden. This workshop will give participants an introduction to the skills and background required to monitor butterfly populations, with an emphasis on protocols used by the BC Butterfly Atlas, a citizen-science based monitoring program. An indoor classroom portion will give an introduction to butterfly biology, their food plants, the butterfly families, and identification of common species found in the lower mainland, along with a hands-on identification exercise. This will be followed by an outdoor portion, which will provide participants with hands-on tips for safely netting butterflies (equipment provided), handling, identification and photography techniques.

Date and Time: Sunday May 3 2015, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Location: UBC Botanical Garden, Reception Centre, 6804 SW Marine Drive
Cost: $15 members*, UBC students & UNA; $25 public. Plus applicable taxes and fees.
